Bloomingdale's Inc. is an American luxury department shop chain; it was founded in New York City by Joseph B. and Lyman Thousand. Bloomingdale in 1861. A third brother of both, Emanuel Watson Bloomingdale, was also involved in the business concern.^[ii] Information technology became a division of the Cincinnati-based Federated Department Stores in 1930 under so-president Samuel Bloomingdale.^[iii]

1980s–1990s [edit]
